Why You Should Use a Basic Shampoo

The Importance of a Simpler Shampoo

Though we might enjoy the fanciful features of shampoo and conditioner, they aren’t always good for our hair. These can include things like conditioners that work as cleansers to enhance moisture levels, shine, or curl definition.

The New York Times reported on a shampoo that was “naturally” branded but caused mass hair loss. Although the FDA is supposed to oversee the beauty industry, there are many loopholes that companies can exploit. Consequently, customers often don’t know what’s happening to them until it’s too late.

For years, many brands have put additional items in shampoo, such as conditioners, silicones, and pearlizing agents, to make hair shinier. These extras often sound beneficial, but cleansing your scalp is more important than anything else.

With technological advancements, formulas for hair products became designed to more effectively adhere to the individual strands and scalp. Even though these ingredients might be marketed as ‘beneficial’ to your hair, they actually prevent shampoo from doing its job of cleansing. I also believe that on the scalp, they can block pores and impede new growth.

If you want lush and healthy hair, trichologists recommend making sure your scalp is clean. Getting your hair wet before shampooing and rinsing it out thoroughly are easy ways to make a big impact.

A lot of harsh chemicals are used in shampoo, which is why there’s so much conditioning, frizz-tamping, and texturizing stuff available. Not only does this affect colored hair by leaching and fading the color, but it’s also damaging to hair in general.

At first, a conditioner-as-shampoo may sound like it makes sense. However, if it doesn’t rinse off and instead sits on your scalp like these products are designed to do, serious issues could arise from that.

If you want to protect your hair’s natural oils, avoid sulfate formulas. Furthermore, steer clear of products that promise advanced benefits like deep conditioning and straightening; these often contain toxic ingredients that cling to your hair. A clean formula is a safer and healthier option for your hair.

Your hair needs a gentler shampoo that is sulfate-free to stay healthy, no matter your natural hair color or if you chemically treat it. There should be a shampoo revolution that uses conditioner and haircare styling products on the hair itself rather than massaging them into the scalp.

No sulfates and no added chemicals—our favorite clean shampoos rinse out easily, leaving your hair soft, healthy, and naturally shiny.
